Providing counseling for feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and depression for moms in and around Buford, Georgia
Providing counseling for feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and depression for moms in and around Buford, Georgia
Motherhood comes with unparalleled joy and often intense doubt, guilt, and stress that can lead to feelings of anxiety or depression. Moms frequently carry the mental load of the family, keeping track of dates, details, and everyone's needs... except their own. Self-care is critical, but easily falls by the wayside. I. SEE. YOU. In my counseling office, you have a sacred and safe space to process emotions, be encouraged, discuss parenting challenges, develop new coping strategies, and create organizational systems that will help things run more smoothly. Your needs and goals define how we use our time together.
When you choose to pursue counseling, you are spending valuable time addressing your needs so that you can look after the needs of others. Based on counseling theory and research, our sessions are built on the foundations of non-judgement, validation, and acceptance. Sessions are structured based on your preferred counseling approach and stated goals. I personally lean towards dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. However, I recognize that each client is different and the best counseling approach will be guided by your personality, needs, and goals.
I firmly believe that moms do some of the most important and underappreciated work. While it is my joy to support all moms, I'm able to offer additional insights and strategies to moms struggling with ADHD.
With a deep knowledge of ADHD both personally and professionally, I'm particularly skilled at helping moms cope with ADHD in themselves or their children through targeted emotional processing, parenting strategies, and household management systems.
As a student intern, sessions are offered at a discounted rate of $35 or your typical co-pay, whichever is less.
After May 2024, session prices will increase to $85.
CMS Counseling accepts most insurances and will work with you to determine your co-pay. Fees based on a sliding scale are also available. Please reach out if you need support but are concerned that finances may be an issue.
Sessions can be in-person or online. Recognizing that childcare is difficult, children under 6 months can join sessions if needed.
I received my first master's degree in Human Development & Family Studies in 2005. After having two children of my own (now 15 and 11), I returned to school in 2021 to obtain a second master's degree in counseling. Currently a student at Lamar University with an anticipated graduation in May 2024, I am a counseling intern at CMS Counseling under the supervision of Christine Shaheen-Ball.
