Specializing in ADHD and autism, I provide support for moms and children near Buford, Georgia
Motherhood comes with unparalleled joy and often intense doubt, guilt, and stress that can lead to feelings of anxiety or depression. Moms frequently carry the mental load of the family, keeping track of dates, details, and everyone's needs... except their own. Self-care is critical, but easily falls by the wayside. I. SEE. YOU. In my counseling office, you have a sacred and safe space to process emotions, be encouraged, discuss parenting challenges, develop new coping strategies, and create organizational systems that will help things run more smoothly. Your needs and goals define how we use our time together.
I firmly believe that moms do some of the most important and underappreciated work. When you choose to pursue counseling, you are spending valuable time addressing your needs so that you can look after the needs of others. Based on counseling theory and research, our sessions are built on the foundations of non-judgement, validation, and acceptance. With a deep knowledge of ADHD both personally and professionally, I'm particularly skilled at helping moms cope with ADHD in themselves or their children through targeted emotional processing, parenting strategies, and household management systems.
Knowing your child is struggling and feeling powerless to help them is one of the worst feelings as a parent. Children go through many stages as they grow, wrestling with big emotions, social relationships, and discovering who they are. Sometimes these struggles show up as troublesome behaviors, causing stress for everyone. For children with ADHD or autism, these changes can be even more profound. Emotions are bigger, outbursts last longer, and friends may be harder to find. While the internet offers infinite resources to help children and parents navigate these challenges, it cannot provide personal direction or support.
Neurodivergent kids are my specialty and my absolute favorite to work with. I admire their creativity, authenticity, and determination. With years of personal experience and education on ADHD and autism, I strive to support both children and parents through my work, often providing simple strategies that can be implemented at home to make life run more smoothly. My sessions are creative and unique, keeping children with ADHD engaged through art, movement, song, and play. I’m also known for my ability to quickly connect with children who are often slow to warm up, putting them at ease with my authenticity and silly nature. Having Link the Therapy Cat with me tends to help too!
Building on the foundations mentioned above, my sessions are structured based on your preferred counseling approach and stated goals. I personally lean towards person-centered cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. However, I recognize that each client is different and the best counseling approach will be guided by your personality, needs, and goals.
Sessions are offered in-person in Buford, Georgia or online. Children younger than 6 months are welcome to join their moms during our session.
Individual sessions are $125 per hour.
At this time, I do not accept insurance but can offer assistance in submitting a superbill for reimbursement. Fees based on a sliding scale are also available. Please reach out if you need support but are concerned that finances may be an issue.
It would be my joy to help you and your child thrive.
I received my first master's degree in Human Development & Family Studies in 2005. After having two children of my own (now 16 and 12), I returned to school in 2021 to obtain a second master's degree in counseling. I graduated in May of 2024 and am currently an Associate Professional Counselor under the supervision of Brooke Harris at Cardinal Counseling Group.
Personal Mission Statement: To vulnerably serve others in both word and deed with curiosity, authenticity, respect, empathy, and intelligence so that I may live and love well and empower others to do the same.
